These certainly have been some joyous summer months. We have made two trips to Durango and Kai is such a fan of Nana and Grandaddy's cabin. Kai continues to LOVE anything that is a machine, has wheels, and beeps. He talks about the train in Durango all the time and mama and papa are quickly tiring of his two Thomas the Train Books. Kai is now talking up more of a storm than before and continually amazes me with words he puts together to express himself. I love it! He now enjoys pooping on the potty every day while hiding behind the shower curtain or a towel. Pretty funny. He also pounds his fist with ours when he pees on the potty saying, "Jackson Power!" He knows he has been successful when the fists pound :) He loves to hike, play in the creek, make Badger howl, throw rocks for Badger to chase, hop on pop (running and jumping on Jeff whild Jeff is lying down on the floor), sliding on any slide, climbing up rocks, ladders, steps, basically anything climbable, drumming, reading books, counting, and playing hide and seek. Kai can now count to 20. Video is attached of this skill as well as him wheelbarrow walking and drumming. We have almost had visitors every single weekend and Kai is a great entertainer. We look forward to our continued guests and hope you will visit soon if you haven't already. Jackson Power to you all!
Perhaps the next cover of Rock and Ice

Kai and Solomon lovin' on each other
Reading to Solomon and Kai at the Cabin
Oh, the beloved fire truck. Note the truck shirt Kai is wearing. Even though the temps were hot and the sun blazing, Kai did not want that shirt to come off.

Rub a dub dub, three babes in the tub.
Kai, Melody and Solomon enjoy a bath at the cabin.
Riding the Moose!
Practicing yoga with papa.
My good friend Steve from Grad School and his friend Dee.
Wohoo! Making a bike powered smoothie!
Kai loved the popcorn so much, he decided to join it in the bowl.
Kai and Solomon enjoying a soak in the pool.
Woah mama look, I pooped in the potty!
A very proud boy!
Hiking with friends from college, Amy and Russ and their two children Gracen and Carter.
MMMMM! Picking Cherries.
Driving Grandaddy's truck at the cabin with Papa.
Badger, Kai and Papa walking on the tree bridge.
Like papa, like son. Cleaning nose with a netty pot.
Great action shot. Throwing rocks for Badger.
On a hike.

Wow! Hannah & Jeff, your lil one has grown so much! amazing! -that is how they do, though, isn't it?! Looks like you are happy & healthy there in the beautiful mountains of Colorado. Maybe one day I can make it that way for a visit as well... I left San Francisco in May (after about 5years there!) for what turned into almost a 3month hiatus (sp???) in Asheville. I considered staying there for longer, but felt a stronger pull to continue my adventures (for now) on the west coast for a bit. So, I have now made it out near the Lake Tahoe area, in the valley just below the mountains -Carson City, NV! Wow, what a change! Great thing I had a more subtle transition from San Francisco in going back to the Carolina mountains for awhile... I am finally going to more seriously and avidly pursue a career here. So I start massage therapy school in September, just a few minutes bike ride from where I'm currently living w/my grandmother. I'm excited & motivated!
I'd love to hear more about what you're up to these days w/your lovely family when you may possibly have time, Hannah. Let's be in touch!!! Much love... & please tell Jeff I said hello!
Sincerely, Samala
