Pasha sent this super cool kite to the boys. The coolest kite ever! We can't wait to fly it again on a super windy day.
Our new baby chicks are getting bigger by the day.
Above- the boys made a mine in the living room. If you look closely you will see rocks, minerals and jewels they are mining.
Motown skate party. We had fun until Julie fell and shattered her wrist. Bummer! ER was fun though. I had mustaches in my purse, so we had the whole ER staff and ourselves cracking up. Our answer to Dr. Charlie, "No, we promise, no alcohol was involved! Just trying to keep mom's night out fun and light."
Mayfaire at the school. Every year a Mayfaire king and queen is chosen. How? You might ask. First all the girls (then the boys) sit around in a circle and get a little chicken feed to hold in their hands. A chicken is put in the middle of the circle and then walks around until it eats out of someone's hand. The first hand that the chicken takes food from becomes the queen or king. The King and Queen are pulled in a decorated cart while music is played and then they get to sit in decorated chairs and watch the Maypole dances.
After the dances are over, children get to participate in different crafts- flower crown making, gnome home creating, silk scarf dying (just to name a few).
Our small town of Carbondale celebrates the Dandelion. We have a whole festival celebrating this weed. To our delight, we spotted Smokey the Bear in the parade and afterwards, we tracked him down for a photo shoot. Kai was in awe.
For Mother's Day, I spent a full day hanging with two of my dear girlfriends. We hiked, ate, hung out and soaked in the hot springs. What a treat.
Kai turned 7 years old on May 31st. It is hard to believe that 7 years has passed. His birthday theme this year was Junior Rangers. We hiked while doing a scavenger hunt, made fossils from things we found on the hike, and ate a giant S'Mores cake.
After his party, Jeff took Kai for an afternoon/evening of climbing and camping. Papa/son time. Kai was so excited and had a great adventure.
He found bones. Cooked out on a ledge.
YIKES!
Had S'Mores.
Crashed hard after the cookout.
Hiked back down to the tent site.
Had a campfire and snugged in for the night with papa. Lucky boy.
Kai flying with his kindergarten teacher to his first grade teacher.
In his new first grade nest awaiting the other little birdies.
Bridge/tunnel made by all the students in the upper grades, bridging the path from kindergarten to first grade.
The current first grade welcoming the new first graders. Kai and his class went to see what the first grade classroom was like and were told a short story before returning to their parents for a potluck.
First Grade Cowboy munching on a brownie.
Summer time means lots of time in the water. All this snow has made the rivers swell. The boys and I enjoyed a trip out on the river with our good friends.
The boys really want a pool, so they decided to transform the sandbox into one.
As always, summer brings a lot of adventure. Next week we embark on a three week camping trip. We look forward to sharing our adventure with you when we return. Wishing you all well. Happy Summer.

Saying goodbye to Ms. Rachel. We love her.
