It's hard to believe this little guy is now 5 months old. Time truly does fly. Isaac continues to be one of the most chill buddha babies ever. What a blessing! He dazzles all who see him with such a big smile. What a delight. At his 4 month check up Isaac weighed 17lbs 12oz. and was 26 1/2 inches long. He'll be caught up to his brother in no time. Isaac's new developmental feats are: playing with his feet (happy baby pose), bringing everything to his mouth, and rotating his upper body in an attempt to grab things or see us. Next he will be rolling over:)
Kai is now fully dressing himself every day and then putting on his pjs by himself, buttons and all, every night. He no longer needs a diaper for his naps and is only using one for night time sleeping. YEAH!!! He brings laughs to us every day. Not too long ago, Kai was crying and once he stopped he knelt down by Isaac and said, "Don't worry Isaac. I'm just a little sad. It's okay."
When given a choice the other night to either sit with us and finish eating or to go play quietly in his room, Kai stood in the hallway and said in his willful three year old way, "No, I will not sit with you and I will not go in my room. I will stick my bottom up at you and that is my choice." Jeff and I busted up laughing despite our better judgment.
Another time Kai was crying and turned to me and said, "See my sadness coming over my eyes?"
Kai's newest love is to go to the library. Weekly he gets a HUGE bag of books and reads over all of them before he brings them to us to read to him. On our way home from one of our trips to the library, Kai was looking at a book in his car seat and said, "I just can't resist this book mama!" How he picks up on these words and then uses them correctly amazes me.
We have a brand new, amazing library in the valley that will just blow anyone's socks off and after our first trip there I asked Kai what his favorite part of the library was. Keep in mind that they had a huge children's section with a real reading forest (made of tree trunks), big bean bags, a little crawling gym, and just a cool place to be. Kai's response was, " The books." He loves books about pirates, dinosaurs, monsters and machines.
Last week on one of our hikes, Kai picked a piece of long grass and said, "I want a piece of grass. I'm like a dump truck driver." It took me a minute to catch on to what he was referring to and then I said, "Oh, like your book Curious George and the Dump Truck where George gets into a dump truck and has a piece of grass in his mouth?" Yep, that was it.
Tonight Kai informed us that he wanted to live in a multi-processor when he grows up and then work in it too. (For those of you who don't know, it is some huge constructions machine like an excavator).
Two days ago Kai and papa were taking care of Isaac while I went to spin class. When I got home Jeff said that Kai heard Isaac crying and said, "Oh Shit, Isaac's crying!" Hmm I said, sounds like he has heard you say that one too many times. I knew it wasn't from me because I am so careful with what I say around the little sponge. Jeff agreed that it probably was something he had said. It only takes once.
Yesterday he told both Jeff and I that he wanted to have snugs with no end. Oh the love! What a wonderful thing.
Wishing you all snugs with no end.
Love,

Kai eating his first restaurant pizza! Gluten and cow dairy free! Now that is a treat. This place started offering gluten free crust and they had goat cheese too!
